What does Tenure & Promotion mean?
Tenure
Tenure is one of the principal by which the quality of the University/educational institute is maintained. A faculty member who has been awarded tenure will be considered as a permanent member of the faculty and remain until the member resigns or retires.
Promotion
Promotion means the appointment of a faculty member to a higher rank in recognition of effective and excellent performance.
What does it involve?
Tenure
It involves the evaluation of the faculty member's distinctive teaching, research, and creative activity before granting tenure. Tenure shall be in an academic department or in any other administrative unit. The tenure of a faculty member may reside in a center when the research, and other duties of the faculty member necessitate such a designation after the written approval of the university.
Promotion
Promotion can be done through an academic department or another appropriate administrative unit. The faculty members should carry their rank if they change departments. If in the promotion cases tenured faculty members are involved, the decision will be initially on assessments of the faculty member’s performance on the basis of the last promotion.

Promotion is obtained by faculty and non-faculty members through distinction in teaching, research, any creative activity, to the University and the profession.
