Paul Knoepfler in his TED Talk Vienna on the ethical dilemma of designer babies brings out the new technology, Crisper Technology which would create designer babies that are genetically modified and the effects they would bring. He introduced the technology which includes a GPS tracker for DNA, a scissors to cut the DNA and a pen to rewrite the DNA which would take the scientific world by storm. He says that although the genetically modified children will have advanced physical and mental abilities, they might also have increased aggression and show more narcissism. They might also have different problems because they would be more skilled and good looking than the normal kids which would affect the normal children’s self-esteem. Finally the presenter says that although genetic modification would help the scientists solve some of the genetic issues, making designer babies would create another species on the earth who would bring more harm than benefits to the human race.
