Discussion: Inner Neandertal
What to do:
Please watch the TED talk DNA Clues into Our inner Neandertal Links: https://www.ted.com/talks/svante_paeaebo_dna_clues_to_our_inner_neanderthal. and then read a recent article, Neanderthals and Moderns Humans Interbred '10,000 years ago, Links: http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-35595661. and post about something that you learned from a both and whether or not you thought the two contradicted one another.
TED talk by Svaante Paaebo--
In this talk, he has discussed the differences in the various races which inhabit the world like the race in africa, neaderthal man in asia and the desovonian race in russia. He discussed the role of the environmental factors in determining the changes in the nucleotides of the sequences of the african as compared to the races in africa called as single nucleotide polymorphism. He found out that the africans migrated out of africa and the genome of about 30 million nucleotides are being studied and sequenced in the caves around russia and their sequences are compared to that of africans and the neanderthal man. The studies revealed that there are only 2.5%-5% differences in the entire sequences of the genomes of the neanderthal man, eurasian man, desonovian man and african humans. The races have tremendous differences in color of skin, hair, facial expressions, and genetic traits ,still the sequences of the genome are 95% similar among all human beings present in the different parts of the world. The difference in the humans in africa can be compared to the humans living in south africa.

This talk discusses the origin of man 1 million years ago. This talk dicusses the changes in the facial expression of the humans after the mixing of the races during that time in asia and europe called as eurasia. There was mixing of the race of earlier humans with neanderthal man which led to the change in the features of the humans, but the sequences were found out to be very similar. These talks do not contradict each other as the mechanism involved in preserving the characters has been called as single nucleotide polymorphism which imparts the changes in the features and expressions of the humans living in the various parts of the world. These changes cause the silencing of the genes. The other factor involved is the epigenetic changes due to the environmental conditions like the exposure to harmful radiations on the human body, changing temperature and pressure.
