Discussion: Skin Color is an Illusion
What to do:
Please watch the TED Talk Skin Color is an Illusion Links: https://www.ted.com/talks/nina_jablonski_breaks_the_illusion_of_skin_color. and also review the site Understanding Race Links:http://understandingrace.org/home.html. from the American Anthropological Association and post what you thought was the most interesting thing that you learned.
The most interesting thing about race and racism, that is also the saddest aspect about it is that race is mere illusion. We spend our life either being the follower of this concept because we are born into a dominant race and we feel being privileged, or, we may be against it because we are born into the subservient race, and we feel oppressed. But, in the end when death takes away our life, it shows no discrimination, or the diseases that comes to us are discriminative. Everyone born on this Earth is taken away and bodies get back into it's elements in similar manner without any difference, no matter to which race do we belong.
Our skin color creates division, conflicts and tension. We forget that beneath this skin every organ of our bodies are similar in structure, function and even color. If we acknowledge this similarity, then we won't chase or give importance to the color of our skins. This would make our lives more happier and this world a more better place to live in.
