1. Picking up on nonverbal cues, it is important to keep five key principles in mind.
Two Nonverbal Communication Codes are-
Physical Characteristics- We often make judgments about a person’s personality or behavior based on physical characteristics, and researchers are quick to note that those judgments are often inaccurate. Research on color psychology has demonstrated that different colors can evoke different moods. Appearance can also alter physiological reactions, judgments, and interpretations. Culture is an important influence on how appearances are judged. While thinness tends to be valued in Western cultures, some African cultures relate full-figured bodies to better health, wealth, and social status.
Touch- Touch in communication interaction is called haptics. Communicating through touch is another important nonverbal behavior. There has been a substantial amount of research on the importance of touch in infancy and early childhood. Researchers have found that high-status individuals tend to invade other people's personal space with greater frequency and intensity than lower-status individuals. Sex differences also play a role in how people utilize touch to communicate meaning.
2. While in school, though i was a fairly good student, getting B's and B+ in studies. Teacher often had one compaint with me; that is that i do not write much in exams. Writing what was needed and ask in question but nothing much or extra that could get me more good grades. Once the teacher told me this i tried to write more in exam, complying with what my teacher is trying to tell me. My non-verbal response was to write extra in assignments and verbal response was to tell my teacher that i will try to write i the answers and assignments to start with, and that i did. My teacher showed me assignments of some classmates who has write extra material as well to make me understand that not every subject or topic needs straight answer, some require to write extra detailing as well.
