Should companies use wireless technology for their networks?

I think companies should use wireless technology as long as it is secure. Increased mobility can help with productivity. If an employee has to visit another work site (or home), they can still access the company network from anywhere. We're literally seeing this in real time with the pandemic. I think increased communication is the second biggest reason. Being able to communicate with coworkers anywhere to resolve issues helps efficiency.
What limits should be placed upon the use of wireless technology?

Basic security is a must. A wireless network doesn't rely on physical security (locked buildings, guards etc) which means they can be attacked by anyone from anywhere. Security measure can include passwords and firewalls.
What "best practices" should be deployed for wireless installations?

Proper configuration from the beginning. Make sure you don't completely set up the network AND THEN add security features.
Making sure work related applications and functions take precedent over casual usage. This can be completed using wi-fi multimedia.
What safeguards should be implemented to protect both wireless and wired resources?

Monitoring can help protect networks. This should be done continuously to find unauthorized devices, usage patterns, and tools that generate traffic.

Wireless technology provides the ability to communication between two or more points over distances without cable.

Companies use wireless technology for their networking:

· Wireless technology in companies improves communication and efficiency.

· It improves flexibility for employees, they can work from anywhere. During this pandemic situation almost all IT employees are opted for work from home. So wireless communication become a crucial component now.

· Companies can install and maintain it at cheaper rates.

· Portable office is also possible. People can make use of portable electronic equipment to send and receive messages, video calls, online meetings etc.

· Companies can maximize the efficiency of workers. Businesses aren’t tied down to a single location.

· GPS technology is helping in transportation companies for finding route, tracking vehicles etc. Using GPRS we can access internet, send emails and large data, real time news etc.

Limits that should be placed on wireless technologies:

· Less security compared to wired technology.

· Wired are faster than wireless.

· Wired networks provide reliability and stability. Wireless networks can be so close to each other, so that one signal will interfere with other signals and thus reducing stability.

· Path loss can occur while transmitting over wireless communication.

· Wireless technology need to carry their own power supply, usually batteries.

· Signals that travel over the air are more vulnerable to jamming and intersections.

· Transmitting data without wires makes data susceptible to hackers. Computer users who can intercept your connection and steal data.

Different wireless technologies:

· Blue tooth – It is a low cost, low power, short range radio wave technology

· Wi-Fi – Refers to Wireless Fidelity, which allows to connect to the internet without a direct line from PC to the ISP.

· Wi-Fi hotspots – A hotspot is a venue that offers WiFi access. The public can use a laptop, WiFi phone or other suitable portable devices to access the internet through a WiFi hotspot.

· WiMax – These are wireless digital communication system. WiMax can provide broad band wireless access up to 30 miles for fixed stations and around 3 t0 10 miles for mobile stations.

Best practices should be deployed for wireless installation:

· Network security – The network offers endless possibilities and opportunities to every user of it, alone with convince. But this convinces and endless benefits are not free from risks as there are many risks to network security. While making network security, the concerns are to make sure that only legal or authorized user and programs gain access to information resources.

· Fire wall – It is a system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. This can be implemented in both hardware and software or combination of both.

· Make your wireless network password protected by giving strong and unique passwords.

· Routers software need to be updated.

· Enable encryption , which helps to provide digital security.

what is your opinion on this? Should companies use wireless technology for their networks? The use of wireless technology would be useful as it can promote cost-efficient measures as wireless networks are less expensive due to fewer cables being used and it’s extremely flexible because workers can still do work while away from the office. However, there’s more of a risk of being exposed to attacks, and speeds may be significantly slower than a wired network. What limits should be...
