Think of a technology that, in your opinion, clearly affects the
workplace. Try to think of a technology that is not so common. (You
might also think about the technology you wish to look into for the
research paper.)
Create a dialogue / conversation between two people of
approximately 100 lines - about two pages. In it, one person must
“act” as if the technology has little or no impact on the
workplace. The other (you, perhaps) must convince the first of its
impact. That last person needs to provide examples of the
unanticipated and anticipated consequences of the technology.
Provide an
Technology : DevOps.
Me: Good afternoon! Today we faced lot of issues while deploying an application.
Person: Good afternoon, But why?
Me: There is some miscommunication between the developer and operator previosly which leaded to todays issue.
Person: What happened?
Me: There is a chronic conflict between the developer and operator. The developer needs to quikly deliver to respond changing demands from the client and market, but due to the influence of security and continuos service of the application it is not done by operation team. As a result there is some disturbance in the release.
Person: So sad! Do the opeartion team working in reguar intervals?
Me: Yes, Of course! Every one are giving there best but the due to lack of quick communication there are some issues encountering. I think we should change our methodology.
Person: What! I think there is no need of any changes, It all happens due to to neglection of employers.
Me: It is not in every case, methodologies, frameworks and standards plays an important role in successfull completion of project.
Person: Of course they are, But we can do that with existing methodologies also.
Me: Yes! It can be done but for efficiency we have to improve our methodologies. There are lot of mothodologies which are supporting quick development and early releases like DevOps.
Person: Ohh! DevOps, I think it is same as Agile. Then as we are are using agile now why we have to change our methodology which is resembling the same.
Me: No! DevOps is not same as agile, It has best practises compared to agile. It is defined into three level of abstractions: Philosophy, Practise and Tools. It combines softeware development and IT operations. It improves trustworthyness and aims to shorten the systems development life cycle and provides continuous delievery.
Person: I heard that it is a complimentary of agile and many aspects of devops came from agile, then why can't we go with the agile. It is not easy to change a methodology working on. In my opinion agile is the best one.
Me: Of course! agile is the good one, but why can't we go for the best. Yes, It is tough to change the methodology all of a sudden but we can start changing for the upcomming projects. It results in smooth going.
Person: Yes! It is ok, Through agile we have iteration approache and also it is based on the lean thinking.
Me: Yes! But through devops it is easy to work on shotcomings and it is a collective collaboration between the development and operations team to miaximise the productivity.
Person: In agile the interaction between the developer and the end users will be there for product workflow, coming to devops I think the end users are the less concern ones.
Me: No! You cannot say that, Same as agile here end users and customers are main cencerned ones. Apart from these in devops there is a greatinteraction between development and operation team which lead to early releases and managing quick changes. It was developed on the top of agile model to overcome the shortcomings of previous methodologies.
Person: Yes! but to addopt the new methoidology there are lot of things required like: Skills in particular methodology, Economy, Challenges in new methoidology etc.
Me: Yes! But after adopting it it will be useful for us and in my piont we have to adopt the new technologies to get the market requirements. Starting we will face some problems and we have to practise it for better output. The upcoming project employees should be trained for particular methiodology. The ;economy will be the concerned one but the returns will be high.
Person: Ok then we will see farword in this matter.
Me: Yes sure!
