in your own opinion, It has been said that a smartphone is a computer in your hand. Discuss the security implications of this statement.
By the introduction of smartphones every generation including young and old are capable of handling apps, websites, making online transactions, playing games and much more to the list.Your statement "It has been said that a smartphone is a computer in your hand." simply implies that smartphones are offering us services just like a computer and even people have started buying more smartphones than computers because of the features which comes in handy offered by the modern smartphones. And maybe it will soon overtake the sales of computers by it's latest advancements.
Now your question is what are it's security implications like every coin has both the sides likewise a smartphone offers us hand full of features but also comes with many security implications so let's see it one by one as follows:
1)Fake SMS from hackers:
I am sure that all of us are aware of this type of scams till now, hackers group or fraud minded people across globe send fraud SMS saying "Congratulation your number have been selected for winning a jackpot, call or message us for your claim" this type of messages are sent through them for fooling innocent people and make money from that.Firstly they send this type of SMS and if the receiver of the message replies to claim the fake prize, the hackers demand particular amount of money to be deposited in their account to grant the fake jackpot/prize and with greediness people go and deposit in their accounts and gets fooled by them. The easy way to not get into this type of scams is avoiding the message and deleting them from your inbox.
2)Dangerous applications:
Applications are much there available in android devices,we install them as per our needs. But if we download and install malicious apps off which we aren't aware of the adverse effects, then this will land you in bigger trouble. It is essential that you read all the reviews of a particular app to be installed on the smartphone online. If it in not available in your smartphone store then kindly check and think twice before installing it because installing apps from trusted repositories is must which can save you from any thefts and dangers. There has been several cases and threats for android users from past many years.
3)Wi-Fi security threats:
There has been many organizations and even small shops which attract younger generations through free wi-fi.In that case you just have to enter your mobile number and the otp generated but that would prove to be dangerous by the hackers looking for your personal data and other useful information. To avoid this, ignore the free wi-fi services that is not provided by the reputable companies and organizations.Similarly if your setting a mobile hotspot make sure you add a secure and tight password and also change password if you find something bad.
4)Dangerous links/URL's:
Many URL's or links are circulated in your social media platforms which would be malicious after a click to it from your side. Some dangerous sites would redirect you to any of the webpages which contains harmful viruses and may affect your device. After redirecting it may ask for some permissions or click on this or click on that button, kindly do not proceed with such things it may get your permission to do illegal things. For this check if the website is https which means secure connection because if you go for a http site then it is not secure and it is possible that the sensitive information such as username and password would get stolen from hackers. And if the site seems working good then proceed.
I have provided major security threats from your statement and have explained it.Give this answer a thumbs up as a positive feedback from your side.
