Conduct performance management in accordance with organisational protocolsand time lines?
Performance management is a process of assessing the performance of employees, groups , departments , or organization with predefined standards.
I will conduct it for overall organization in the following manner:
1) Setting performance goals for the organization:
Organization should try to set specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound goals . It should be decided based on organizational priority and timeliness. There should be different parameters for individual department or employees of different functional area. for example, A sales executive and an operations manager can't be assessed with same parameters.
Similarly, Research wing can't assessed with same parameters of marketing department.
2) Distribution of goals in different units or department:
Each organizational unit must have some metric form of goals and targets to achieve.
Organization many times used management by Objectives ( MBO) as a tool which is very relevant one. In this organization, i will use the same . Each employees from top to bottom level have some monetary tragets to be assigned.
3) Measurement of actual performance of department, employees and organization as a whole:
It can be done well through online or technology based interventions. A performance management system ( PMS) must be designed with the help of internal experts as well as outside consultants. Measurement of performance to employees, department and organization should be linked to each other. There should be some arrangements so that same performance cannot repeated on two times.
4) Comparing current performance with Set Standards:
It will tell the gaps or extraordinary achievement by the organization, units or employees.
5) Feedback and control:
Each employees, units and groups should be rewarded as per their contributions. It will motivate them. A feedback loop should be developed so that employees offer valuable insights to further strengthen the organizational performance management system.
