The current business is running on a global level in which products are sold in various countries throughout the world. Yes, in global level business there are many opportunities to grow. Some of the growth opportunities include entering into a new product line, expanding the current base of the company, acquiring another global company, and increasing the customer base by establishing a unique competitive advantage.
If I have a small inch market size for instance a business of selling female shoes. It is not sustainable because there are various factors that make it less sustainable in the current and future economy including increased competition, online retailing, easy entry into the industry, and many more. For a business to be sustainable, it is necessary to have a strong competitive advantage that can provide the potential to grow.
Economic fluctuations are necessary considerations but apart from that, there are many other factors that can have a more negative impact on the sustainability of the business like substitutes and competitors.
