In: Nursing
In this initial entry into your Nurse E-Portfolio for this course, you have opportunities for reflective practice. In this entry you will focus on your understanding and awareness of nutrition. Using the e-portfolio format, answer the following questions. Make sure you spend some time thinking about the answers to these questions before writing.
1. Think about your own nutrition and diet. If you were asked to
give yourself a rating from 1 to 5, with 5 representing the most
"healthy eater," what number would you give yourself?
2. If your rating was 4 -5, what are you eating and doing with
regard to your nutrition that reflects this rating? What do/can you
do to ensure you will continue to do these things even if you have
limited time or are stressed?
3. If your rating was 3 or below, what two changes might you make
in your eating patterns to improve your nutrition and diet?

1. ANS: I myself honestly rate as 3 because at present I am living my sister and around the meal time her family members can always firm to believer in all foods that are easy to whip up. The foods mostly include cereal, cheese, macaroni, frozen pizza, and canned soups. But unfortunately, I have adapted to these food choices instead of trying to prepare separate meals and the good news is that I have recently applied for a new apartment and will be moving into it within the week. I'm hoping to create balanced meal plans and work on a healthier diet I can follow.
2. ANS: Although I am not in that rating, I do understand the struggle of meal preparing when I'm dealing with limited amounts of time and resources. As previously stated, I believe it would be wise of me to meal plan and possibly work out quick menus I can prepare and leave in a Crockpot style cooker to aid in meal preparation.
3. ANS: I want to cut out the processed foods I've been eating and start by stocking my new apartment with fresh produce, and frozen vegetables and fruit. I want to educate myself further regarding truly balanced meals and implement them into my daily life. Additionally, when I work, I don't typically bring food with me. I will either wait to eat until I get home around 11:00 pm or I will run to a gas station or fast food restaurant. I know both these options are not promoting healthy eating, and I need to stop doing that on the days I work. Also, I have challenged myself to stop drinking soda. I understand it's full of sugar and has negative health effects, and it's a simple step towards a healthier diet.
