NEEDED ANSWERING LIKE ASP!!!
Yes, my organization does uses e-learning for imparting the required knowledge, behavior, skills and employee attitude.
Several types of training methods are used by talent and development team to train the workforce based on the training needs, based on the type of project, based in the job role and level of the employee, etc. are technology based training, on the job training, simulations, leadership training including mentoring and coaching, class room trainings or instructor led training including role play, management games and lectures.
These methods effective in a way based on the training need of an individual and how they perceive to use learning from training and make use to it in their day to day job, how they out-perform, what level of innovative ideas they fulfill and at the return on investment to the organization.
The benefits from the various trainings methods are to fulfill the need of ‘the novice’ who does not anything, ‘the sporadic’ individuals from some of the departments, ‘the established’ who wanted to learn new things, ‘the embedded’ individuals who are there in the organization from longer duration and would like to influence the organizational culture for the day to day work context, and ‘the innovator’ who look for new ideas. Other benefits are such as learners have better control over learning, it enhances employee collaboration, blend of training method are used based in the usage, etc. The only drawback lies is the active participation from the employee to make effective use of the available trainings and methods.
I would recommend to have performance based trainings to enhance the learning and organizational performance. These trainings should be based on the real-time scenarios and simulations which develop the learner’s knowledge, attitude and skills. In turn it helps to develop technical and functional expertise; skills needed for problem solving and decision making and improve upon communication skills.
