What role does CSR play within your organization? Research your organization’s CSR philosophies and literature? In your opinion, are the benefits to the organization tangible?
CSR plays an important role within the organization that I work for since CSR initiatives of the organization are aligned with business objectives. For eg. the organization has partnered with Engineers Without Borders (EWB) which works on providing infrastructure facilities to the village communities and my organization provides funding to EWB to fuel those projects. My organization is also into similar business of constructing projects for the clients so the CSR initiative aligns with businees objective of the organization in that sense.
My organization's CSR philosophy revolves around promoting education, especially in science, technology, engineering, and math as well as funding projects related to providing basic infrastructure facilities to the people of backward communities. In my opinion, the benefits to the organization are intangible rather than being tangible. This is beacuse returns of CSR initiatives are in the form of accolades and praise that the organization receives from its stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, employees etc. The market image of the organization improves in case of successful CSR campaigns launched by it. Such benefits cannot be measured, hence these are all intangible.
