What is wrong with these sentences:
Margarine and vegetable oils are good sources of vitamin K.
Intestinal bacteria make menadione
Retinol is needed for gene expression.
Antioxidants stabilize free radicals by breaking double bonds.
Calcitriol is a biologically active form of vitamin E.
Healthy individuals should never have free radicals in their bodies..
1) Margarine and vegetable oils are good sources of Vitamin A, D and E. Not K.
2) Intestinal bacteria make MENAQUINONE (K2) (not menadione which is K3).
3) Retinol is NOT needed for gene expression. Retinoic Acid is needed for that.
4) Antioxidants DO NOT stabilize free radicals by breaking double bonds. Antioxidants donate an electron to the free radicals hence decreasing their reactivity.
5) Calcitriol is biologically active form of Vitamin D NOT VITAMIN E.
6) Healthy individuals SHOULD have free radicals in their bodies PROVIDED THE LEVELS OF FREE RADICALS DO NOT EXCEED THE METABOLIZING CAPACITY OF THE BODY. During oxygen metabolism, the oxygen gets split into single atoms with unpaired electrons and these free radicals are scavenged by the anti-oxidants enzymes and vitamins in the body.
