Banking sector is always a sensitive one for any nations, for top executives being unethical and lending unethically is always an easy option. Through this the top executives may get benefitted by the large corporates. In a recent case in Indian Banking system CEO of ICICI Bank Chanda Kocher was alleged to lend unethically to some large corporates where her husband was one of the advisors.

Following can be termed as prerequisite of being a good leader in the banking industry:

The executive must be unbiased while lending and lending must be done by all due diligence without getting obsessed with the business model. Bankers must always understand that they are lenders not Private Equity fund providers.
While taking care of ethics a banking leader must understand that the lending must adhere to the norms and guidelines of Banking regulator or central banker of the industry.
Another important ethical issue in banking leadership is to lend sick companies of those groups which have been a long client of the bank, which must be taken care well.
