Managing a diverse team based on the age profile of team members is a critical task. As the manager it is quite cumbersome to manage employees spanning four generations in the office. There are different levels of expectations and perceiving of things by these categories of people in the work place.
As a manager I will use classical and behavioral theories to manage these diverse groups. Classical theories provide is how to deal a team with out affecting your emotion or attaching emotion with someone. To manage the older generation from me I will use classical theories like that of Fayol, Scientific management theories and Weber’s bureaucratic theory. These theories provide us a stern process to handle the team and run the organization.
I will use behavioral theories like Argyris’s, Simon, Chester Bernard to deal with younger generation. These generation of people are more prune to emotions and a sense of being attached. As a manager I can scold them and reprimand them sternly if they do any wrong thing. These behavioral theories provide clear aspects to manage team based on the behavior of the team members.
