Being the project manager of the practice, one needs to take several steps to manage the project planning and implementation of this EHR. Project planning would involve preparation of the work plan and selection of a project team. Answer 3 :

Implementing Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in a facility increases its risk for security of health information. It is due to the fact that the practice would require interacting with several parties for collection and integration of data. Due to this reason, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) has provided certain rules to govern the integration process. As per HIPAA specifications, organization adopting EHR system needs to safeguard the health information of individuals. For this, HIPAA has provided a set of rules to be followed by the medical facility implementing EHR. As per this, the practice needs to have audit control mechanism to monitor the effectiveness of the technology infrastructure. Besides, they need to have the capability to audit.

HIPPA regulates the security policies in protecting the patient information. The security rule has standard data for the safe transformation of electronic information. The individual health information is protected by using covered entities and latest technologies are used for improved patient care. The security rules of HIPPA ensures the confidentiality, integrity, of electronically protected health information.
