Is Weber’s theory a conflict or consensus theory?
Consensus theories are those that would be holding an economic system or a political system such that social changes occur in the present institutions. Consensus as well as conflict theories stand in contrast to one another. Conflict theory are social psychology perspectives that put their emphasis on an interpretation of history that is of a materialist manner. A person would have a critical thought against the society’s stance or the social arrangements that exist , in the form of a revolution.
Weber’s theory is the three component theory, which is also referred to as the Weberian stratification. This was an approach developed by Weber about the social stratification, which reflects the game that happens between power, prestige and play. This theory states that when people have power, it translates into their ability to control the social resources such that the properties people would display a monopoly.
Thus, weber’s Theory could be defined as a conflict theory.
