Did Apple have a moral responsibility to assist the government? A moral responsibility to protect users of the iPhone? A corporate responsibility to protect the profitability of the company for investors and for employees? Should corporations be required to give the government the capacity to access encrypted data?

Soln. Corporate should assist the government as and when needed. Assisting government, indicates helping the people indirectly that falls in the moral responsibility and hence it is moral responsibility of Apple to assist the government. Also, any users, that is using the product of the Apple, should be be protected by the company. Protecting and safeguarding the customers, is also the moral responsibility of the company as a factor of goodwill and trust. Investors and employees, contribute and invest money in the company and as a responsibility, company should provide them share of profit as a good will, which would be possible only when company maintains its profitability. Privacy is the one of the important parameters, that every customer look for and hence protecting the data of the customer is the primary responsibility of the company and hence as a factor of trust, data should not be provided to the government access, except in extreme exceptional scenario.
