Why is it important that the regulation of glycolysis and gluconeogenesis be coordinated?
Glycolysis is breaking down of glucose into pyruvate acid and energy (ATP and NADH) .
Gluconeogenesis is the formation of glucose for catabolic reactions.
they are coordinated because when we need energy the glucose in our body is brokendown into ATP that provide energy to our body parts to functions. Gluconeogenesis will helps to form glucose from the food we eat thus to give energy when we need by Glycolysis.
when glucose level in our body decreases the glycogen stored in the liver are converted to glucose. When glycogen is lesss available by gluconeogenesis the proteins are broken down to amino acid to form glucose from it. there by restoring the condtion .Gluconeogenesis is the reverse of glycolysis.
