A design document is an outline that is use to “guide the development of training” (Noe, 2017, p. 219). Companies use this document to help their upper leadership to train their employees in understanding what the aims or purpose of an assignment or scheme is. The components of a design document are the scope of the project, delivery in the information about the importance of the training to the trainee, the delivery of the training (face-to-face, or online). The delivery of the training also deals with the length and time of the class. The design document also provides information such as needs of the training and feedback. The information in the design document is beneficial. It gives the results of the needs assessment that was completed already. The design document aims to provide the goals, expectations, and require outcomes that the trainees are expected to walk away with.
A design document is necessarily a document to guide the senior leadership on providing training to their employees on the aspect development of training. The design document consists of –
On the aspect of the training all the above metrics are clearly defined and the design document is an informative document which assesses the whole training delivery and its outcomes. The design document concentrates on the development of the candidates and it gives importance to not just the outcome but also the process of the training. The training design document also ensures that all targeted content is covered and there is also scope for repetition in the process so that the concepts being delivered are clearly understood.
