Can you give an example of how group dynamics were essential in a positive way? Then, an example of how poor dynamics resulted in poor performance and/or dissolution or team member being "voted off the team"?
Group dynamics helps in getting higher quality results and solve many complex problems faster. The dynamics measn people of different skill sets, from different region and cultural background unite together for the team. The right mix or the dynamics can create a positivity in group which enhance the knowledge sharing, great learning curve and efficiency in performance. One example of positive group dynamics was for a construction project in USA where people from different region were part of the team. There was complexity refers to some conflicts related to the project as certain envionmentalists were against this project. In addition logistics connectivy and procurement issue was also there. The positive dynamics helps in collectively looking at the problems and they deep dive into major areas to fix the root cause. Seperate meeting was conducted with environmentalist where two persons from the project team discuss in detail with them about the objective of the project and what are the precautions they have taken care of and how the gaps can be fixed to solve this issues. Similarly procurement and logisitcs co ordination was done by expertise in that field from the project team. Thus the team dynamics helps in resolving the issue and making the project finally successful. Here the team realized the importance of the end objectives and they work hard together for it by leveraging the synergy of it.
One example of poor team dynamics was expansion strategy of a Europe based restaurant chain in US. The company has assigned a team for the project execution and they have done their ground studies with respect to the market situation, customer segmentation, economical and operations feasibility. However the report was not that impressive as many points like customer requirements, futuristic model of business and alternative plans or risk mitigation plans etc couldnt prepare well because some of the team members was against the expansion strategy. The leaders couldnt solve the conflicts and there was a high internal conflicts which results in drop off the plan at the mid way. This shows the lack of synergy and team dynamics where some resources consider their priority over the organization and the team.
