How can metaphors create an impact and make something memorable?
A metaphor is a figure of speech which compares two things which
are very different from each other but have something in common. in
the plays of Shakespeare the use of literary devices has been very
frequent. In the play “As You Like It” one of the characters quotes
a line which says, “All the world’s a stage.” In this line, the
world has been compared to a stage. A world and a stage both are
two distinct things which are very different from each other. The
only thing in common to both the things is that they remain
constant and the people come and perform their task and then take
an exit. Hence, the phrase “All the world’s a stage” is a
metaphor.
