Understanding organizational behavior has become very relevant for managers today. Globalization has created obstacles and opportunities for organizational behavior. Various changes, such as an increase in the number of female employees, a reduction in the size of the company, and an increase in the number of temporary workers, are taking place in the organisations. Business is shifting to where the technology is located. One might argue that Business has become technology focused. There are also obstacles and opportunities for administrators to use organizational behavior principles. Organizational Behavior focuses on how to boost efficiency, minimize absenteeism, reduce turnover and deviant activity in the workforce and increase organisation.
Successful organizations work well at every level. From executive positions to employees who manage the day-to-day operations of a company, each person knows his or her role in making the organization a great place to work. But even successful organizations experience times when employees, partners and board members are not satisfied. Motivating good organizational behavior through goal setting, improvement in the workplace, positive reinforcement and recognition will help to create a positive working environment.
Set targets for individual employees that allow them to move towards the desired benchmark. Have a goal-setting meeting with each employee and encourage them to be part of the process. Listen to his ideas and vision for his role in the company and design objectives accordingly. This empowers employees with a sense of ownership in the company and gives them the responsibility to see it succeed. Target setting encourages positive organizational behaviour.
Track workplace work quarters, conference rooms and open areas for change. Employees are the happiest when they're relaxed in the places where they spend so much time. Improved lighting, fresh paint, well-stocked supply rooms, equipment that is kept in working order and a warm and inviting lunch area help to improve morale and organizational behaviour. Paying attention to small details improves performance and helps employees to know that they are a valued part of the organizational team.
Provide a reward system to employees at all levels for increased productivity. Having bonuses is a great motivator for more productive work and improved organizational behaviour. Gift cards to famous coffee shops or lunch spots, monthly parking workers and basic appreciation for a job well done help employees feel like they're a valued member of the team. Allow quarterly and annual bonuses for workers who reach set rates of productivity.
Provide appreciation to workers by quarterly updates, interagency communications and organizational activities during the year. People who are remembered for their different accomplishments are more inspired to continue and extend their efforts. Recognition may also provide the requisite motivation for other workers to be above and above their current level of productivity. Consider offering team-leader roles or mentoring duties to others who are known to help build an environment of good ethics and constructive organizational behaviour.
