What barriers to health care do uninsured populations typically face?
An insurance which provides medical/surgical expenditures of covered persons are called health insurance .This will reimburses the expenditures spend due to a disease or injury or pays to the hospital/care provider directly. Health insurance protects individuals from sudden, unaffordable or high medical expenses. Due to the high cost of medical care, uninsured population always suffer in getting quality health care services. The following are the barriers to health care which uninsured populations usually faces
1. Delays in getting appropriate care due to unaffordability of the expense for medicine, surgery, diagnostic procedures etc.
2. Out of pocket expenditure will leads to finical burden and medical debts and it will affect the stability of the family
3. Family/individuals will decide to stop treatment due to unaffordable medical bills and it will leads to complication of the conditions
4. Issues in getting preventive care and amenities for chronic diseases and severe life limiting conditions
5. More chance to be hospitalized for preventable health problems and get deteriorations in their whole health status.
6. Receives only very limited diagnostic and therapeutic services due to the high cost for those services
7. Higher mortality rates because of the delay and rejection in getting high quality health care services
8. Unmet health care needs leads to disability and mortality
9. Medical debs/out of pocket expenditure might leads to poverty and even suicide
10. Overall these all will affect the quality of life of individuals and families
