Value of Clinical expertise:

Expertise refers to great skill or knowledge in a particular field or hobby. Clinical expertise is the result of theory and practical knowledge combined with clinical skills and patient care experiences. A Nurse leader should have the quality of Clinical expertise and she should understand and examine the value of Clinical expertise for her team to develop a culture of practical excellence.

A nurse leader is a person who can inspire others for a positive change for achieving the clinical expertise and Excellency in work. Nurse leader is responsible for developing a clinical expertise in nurses, who are their in her  team to enhance patient care with high quality. She has to promote the Evidence Based practices in the healthcare setting. There should be regular staff development programme for promoting evidence based practices and clinical expertise for developing a culture of practical excellence. Experienced nurses and clinicians can share their real life clinical experiences, so that it can help to create an insight in others.

The role of nurses had largely expanded in the recent decade, especially after the Patient protection and Affordable Care Act ( ACA) 2010. Expanded roles of nurses include Advanced practice nurse, clinical nurse leader, nurse managers, Care coordinators etc. Clinical expertise is an important and vital quality of nurses, that should be assessed by the nurse leader based on individual nurse's performance. Clinical expertise is indicated in quality of patient care and clinical decision making skills. Nurse leaders has to understand the value of Clinical expertise that needed for individual nurses to develop a healthcare environment with practical excellence, that offer high quality patient care.
