If you suspected a new gene “X” was responsible for the prevention of autoimmunity in mice and you had a viable knock out of gene “X” in mice how would you detect the presence of autoimmune responses to multiple organs in the KO mice? (What would you expect to find when examining tissue sections if knocking out gene X results in autoimmune responses to the lung, salivary gland, kidney and small intestine?)
(Immunological response type 5 sentences max)
autoimmune disease occur when immunesystem attack or destroys our own cells and tissue due to breakdown of tolerence they are characterized by the presence of autoreactive t or b lymhocytes and autoantibodies lymphocytic infiltration in exocrine glands like salivary and lacrymal gland .in lung granuloma and fibrosis found acute or chronic tubulointersitial nephritis ,amyloidosis , hyper gammaglobulinemia are the pathological findings in kidney .lupus nephritis with spontaneous glomerular and peritubular fibrin deposition found in mouse .malfunctioning of tight junction of intestine andincreased permeability found in intestine
like all adaptive immune response it is focused on specific antigens by t cell receptors and b cell receptors .in contrast to infection the antigens that these cells recognise are processed from proteins within the target organ and this drives a chronic inflammatory process that disrupts normal function of tissue .thus the inflammatory and fibrotic changes is present in organs
