Any racial/ethnic variables that may impact physiological functioning of the cardiopulmonary system How these processes interact to affect the patient with heart failure
Many intertwined factors likely contribute to the higher heart disease rates seen among some race .Rates of high blood pressure, diabetes ,and heart failure vary among people of different backgrounds.Adults living in United status are more likely to become sick from heart disease regardless of their race or ethical heritage .But certain minority group face a greater risk than others
AFRICAN AMERICANS
Some researchers suspect that people who livedin equatorial Africa developed a genetic predisposition to being salt sensitive ,which means their bodies retain more sodium. This condition increses blood volume, which, inturn raises blood pressure .Salt sensitivity allows the body to conserve water, which can be beneficial in hot,dry climate .Generations later, however, theAmerican descendants of these individual remain disproportionally salt -sensitive
AMISH
The amish are known for simple living .they have fewer risk for disease than general populations because of their practice of manual labour, diet ,and rare use of tobacco and alcohol
THE HISPANIC PARADOX
ACCORDING TO SOME STUDIES ,Hispacics and latinos have higher rates of obesity ,diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors compared with whites
ASIAN IMMIGRANTS
South asians tend to have higher rate of coronary artery disease .In general ,recent immigrants from East asian countries tend to have lower rate of heart disease than other Americans .However ,their children -who often have adopt western culture practices -have higher rate of obesity and other cardio vascular factors
BLACK patients have been shown to have different baseline characteristics and outcome compared with nonblack patients in cohort studies However ,few studies have focused on heart failure[Hf] with preserved ejection fraction [HFpEF] patients STUDIES SHOWS black patients with HFpEF have a higher heart failure hospitalization risks than nonblack patients
HOW THESE PROCESS INTERACT TO AFFECT THE PATIENT WITH HEART FAILURE
EVENTHOUGH these factors increase the incidence of heart failure and rate of coronary artery disease lifestyle changes can decrease the incidence of heart disease such as
try to limit saturated fats ,foods high in sodium and added sugars
eat plenty of fresh fruit ,vegitables and whole grains
practice regular exercise
avoid or reduce alcohol intake
