Those both theories had importance in the nursing profession. It is because of both theories says about the human needs and nursing program is one of the programme which is to help the people to attain their needs.

Maslow's hierarchy theory catagories the needs of human to five levels. It include basic physiological needs, safety , love, self esteem and self actualization. He says that the needs are attained from basic physiological one to at last the self actualization.

Orems self care theory says about the attainment of needs by self or if need assistance nursing agencies role in attaining the needs.

As a comparison Maslow's says about the importance of attaining needs and Orem's theory prescribed about the role of nursing agencies in attaining needs.
