Advantages of media:
There are several advantages that are related to different forms of media. We know that media refers to various means of communication and being a means of communication the first advantage of media is that it serves as an enabler in educating people. For instance people, through various television and radio programs, educate themselves on different issues like health matters, investment matters, etc. Media is instrumental in not only educating people but also increasing their knowledge on various matters and topics. Adults and children can increase their knowledge significantly by gathering relevant information from different types of media. Media is also very useful for corporate entities to promote and market their products and services. Media like television, newspapers and magazines are still very relevant when companies look to market their products and services.
Disadvantages of media:
Many a time’s media can lead to individualism. People, in today’s age and generation, spent too much time on digital media and social media. This leads to lower level of socialization with friends and family. Secondly media can be used to propagate false news and information. In many cases media is used to propagate a specific agenda and develop a negative, but false mindset in the minds of the audience.
Factors that might change the disadvantages and advantages of media are the rapid advancement of technology in the field of media. With the recent rapid progress in technological innovation media has become a more dynamic medium and tool and can be used by individuals and entities alike for productive purposes. Information is now available on a real time basis. Secondly with greater degree of regulation of different media the chances of spreading a false or misleading and negative news reduces substantially.
