How would you explain the relationship between one's culture and one's identity? What does it mean/look like to have a “Christian” identity?
One's culture comprises tradition , food , values , norms ,attire , religion and so on. It plays an important role in defining one's identity . Culture shapes the person identity ,it defines who they are , where the belongs. Identity promote a sense of belonging , which helps us to know that which group we belongs . Whereas culture is transmitted from one generation to other it is identity for them that they belongs to this cultuer and it is called their cultural identity . One's culture is the foundation on which one's identity is created.
A person to have a Christian identity means that person belongs to specific religious group, Christianity, which have same traits, beliefs or rituals and god and it is their group identity and individual religious identity. Here we can see that it one's cultural that is definingg one's cultural identity . The person is christan by religion and it is his identity.
