There are three major topics /
concepts that I believe will stay with me and help me the most in
my career. I am looking for an analyst role in a corporate. The
ceoncepts that would help:
- Time value of money: This is
probably the simplest yet most valuable concept that I have learnt.
My career is going to test me on this concept for a majority period
of time. This concept improved my understanding of risk and return.
The concepts of NPV, IRR and capital budgeting will definitely go a
long way in shaping my career in the corpoirate fiannce team of a
conglomerate. Based on this concept, I will be able to suggest to
my counterparts, which project to undertake and which ones to
reject. I believe I will be able to contribute to the role of a
finance manager to add shareholders value.
- The concept of equity valuetion is
another area that I believe I will like to work on in my career.
This topic enriched my understanding of the stocks, their valuation
methodology and added to my exisiting knowledge of trading. The
concept of equity valuation had intrigued me since beginning. This
course on Financial Management has gone a long way in crystallizing
this topic in my mind. I have always wondered how leading equity
analysts manage to get paid so well. I can now appreciate the rigor
they all would have gone through in their career to get what they
are getting now. So, I strongly believe this topic is going to be
highly helpful in my life.
- Last but not the least, the
theories of capital structure have given a direction to the way I
used ti think about the capital. This topic will help me a long way
in suggesting the right capital, capital mix for my firm. Not only
in my corporate career, this topic is going to help me in my
personal life as well.
