Course Concept

Definition: a general belief or idea; a concept, also called as an idea that is formed by combining the characteristics or particulars of a concrete construct which would lead to a directly conceived or intuited object of thought, also can be simply called as a blue print towards achieving goals set. Under course concept it can be seen as an idea or blue print to impart education / knowledge / skill into the student studying the course of their liking.

Types of course concepts

a. Concept of “just in time”

b. Concept of bridge theory with practice

c. Concept of lecture as a network

a. Concept of just in time

i. This is much dependent upon the timing of the course to be introduced, for example we do not teach maths (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and soon) but we first teach numbers, when the child recognises the numbers then we move on to other. Following this concept of just in time the subjects which are needed in the first and last year/semester are decided

ii. It is upon the saying that “using effort when it's needed, instead of ahead of time”

iii. Right time gives us right choices to make. There is no use of teaching a student about subjects which he practically fails to understand and follow.

iv. In the present volatile industry the students and teachers need to adapt to the point of teaching viewing the need of the hour. Currently the world is going through a rough time of global disease or pandemic that has allowed us to explore the ways to teach students while they are keeping the distance apart. The need of the hour is to see how using the latest technologies and communications available in the market make the subject / knowledge / skill delivered to the student. Hence this concept of just in time fits in in the current scenario

v. HCA – Health Care Administration, this course is influenced by the just in time concept under current scenario. The HCA is divided into semesters under which the subjects are added as per the timely requirement. The need for the hours calls upon the health care administrators should be robust and should be able to handle large scale preparations needed for managing a global health issue. Since a decade the hospitals as well as administrators had not handled a situation like this, there was no subject teaching them or the practice they needed. Hence, appropriate mock drills and standard operating procedures should be carried out and protocols should be prepared. The other things that needs to be looked into are improvement in health care operations, management of workflows, and facilitating world-wide system of innovation.
