Another trem often confused with"health promotion" is" disease prevention" which means " behaviour motivated by a desire to actively avoid illness,detect it early or maintain functioning within the constraints of illness

For instance, a community health nurse may organize a teaching program for community-dwelling older adults to learn about the need for a balanced diet, rich in fruits and vegetables. This would be an exampe of health promotion focus , since there is no clear disease or condition at issue

Primary Prevention

Primary health promotion and diseases prevention related to Young women

Women in earlier adulthood have different taks to acheive and issues to address than women in late adulthood. Women in this age group tend to be healthy. Unfortunately, during this period many women engage in health-risk behaviours such as physical inactivity,eating poorly,participating in un-protected sexual inter course and smoking. Some of these behaviours being established in adolescence and represent modifiable behaviour. If not addressed , these behaviours can contribute significantly to leading cause of mortality and morbidity. The majority of health concerns for these women are eating disorders,reproductive health and sexually transmitted diseases mental health and mood-disorders ,subsance abuse
