(Answer) For a correction officer, one might lay out the fundamental ethical code to be based on the work of Immanuel Kant. Kantian ethics suggest that one should treat people in the way that one might like to be treated. Upon taking such an oath, the ethical codes might be laid in reference to the fundamental principle.
This would be an obvious rule to prevent the worst from happening.
This rule would avoid officers from retaining the prisoners to a degree that is beyond their authority. A prisoner would have the rights that the courts and superior officers would confer upon him.
An officer would not be allowed to withhold medical issues that a prisoner faces. This would ensure timely treatment and well-being of the prisoner.
This would mean that an officer with a personal grudge or disagreement would not be allowed to indulge in vengeful emotions.
This would essentially mean that if the prisoners have special permissions, visits, special care etc the officer would be liable to enforce the procedures that entail these right. The officer would not be allowed to withhold information or rights from the prisoner.
This would mean that it is the officer’s lawful duty to protect the prisoners from internal fights, human rights violations etc to the authorities.
