You have been asked to develop your school’s first student code of ethics. How might you approach this task? Who might you try to involve? What might be some key tenets of such a code of ethics? As, I will be preparing code of ethics for a school, here, I should take approach knowing the current environment of schools and helping all members by telling them the objectives of preparing such code of ethics and how it will benefit the entire society or school.

Here, we can involve school authority, teachers to prepare code of ethics, we can also take feedbacks from each student and teacher, we should be measuring that how code of ethics bringing value in the society.

                                                                

Few are the items, I will keep in the code of ethics, and these are as stated below:

  • Responsibility towards the profession of teaching: Here, teachers are responsible for teaching in fair way, they should not discriminate any students and they should be committed towards the profession, fulfill periodic objective, so, students can be helped.
  • Responsibility towards improving competence: here, teachers are to present superior quality of teaching and students should get quality learning over time. Here, Teacher’s community is responsible for improving their skills, knowledge level over time.
  • Responsibility towards students: Professor or Teacher should treat each student in fair way, they should help them to learn and they should create an environment that bringing more learning for students. Students should feel that they are benefited with quality study material and they are benefited from study engagement activities.
  • Responsibility towards community: the code of ethics should depict that professor; school staffs are responsible for any behavior within the community. They will work for bringing benefits of community. They should not bring any harm on the community just because of their self interest or fulfillment.
  • Ethical use of technology: Teacher and their committee should use technology for bringing benefits to the students. The use of technology should fulfill the core objective, here, core objective is learning. Students should be benefited from entire ethical use of technology.
