racial & ethnic minorities experience significant problems in accessing high quality healthcare, leading to disparities in health status when compared to white, non‐Hispanic populations. Discuss why or why not you believe this assertion to be true.

Solutions

Expert Solution

I believe this assertion to be true.

well, in this ongoing social progress, comparing with white people, the minorities are getting less quality care and recieve less preventive health service. To combat this disparities the health care provider and administrator needs more ackowledge about the situation.

Because of these desparities , there is high mortality and morbidity rate increase , according to recent some research study.

lets discuss some important fact or factors responsible for it:

1. low socio economic status

There is some link between the desparities and the income or socio economic status of the minorities. High number are working in the lower pay industries with low package or no package of health insurance are covered. Most of the minorities are unemployed which can reduce getting high quality care. Financial status directly influence to the health care.

2. Bias from health care provider

Even after getting health insurance which is same level with white people, this is mostly because of racism and ethinic desparities which is present in their thought. And white health workers have in their mind that black people are mostly drug abuse, doing crime, cheter, etc. This influences a lot while providing care to the patients with different racism and ethic.

3. Environment

There is still more dominent by white people. This also plays a importance role in negative influencing in the health care. Still some people think that black people are impure and cannot touch. Some people donot allow to enter in their house. This thought brings into health care and provide low quality care to black people.

4. Culture barrier

Because of different in culture also leads to influence in providing less quality care. This is because the higher level people think that their culture is more superior and only their culture is the best. This makes a sense of discrimination among the monirities people.

5. Education

Among the minorities, thre are many illiterate person. They donot know the heath care facilities provided by the government. This is because of not providing proper health education to the needy people. Because of these lack of knowledge regarding how to take care of self and family, leads to increase mortality and morbidity rate. Even after they know the heaith care services are present, they are nt getting opportunities to enjoy it.

There are some points which can follow to prevent it

  • Maintain a thought that all are same.
  • respect the culture and ethnic of minorities and provide the care
  • adequate supply of needs and proper health education regarding the various kind of services provided.
  • Adequate training to the health worker to respect and understands others culture and ethic and provide the care.
