Answer: The adaptive leadership is a leadership style which is suitable for the organizations that facing a situation of constant change. It helps the organizations to adapt and change as per the changing and changing environment. Therefore it can prove to be harmful in a situation when no change is required inside the organization and everything is going on well. At times organizations try to change and adapt themselves even when their current strategies are working well just because some other organizations are changing their strategies. Such moves can cost dearly for the organizations. Many times difference in the company’s strategy with the other companies is a source of competitive advantage for them. Hence in such situations adaptive leaders can prove to be harmful for the organization as they may attempt to bring changes or change the strategy of the firm. Also in the situation of crisis when a rigid stance is required, such leadership can prove to be harmful.
