Transformational Leadership - List one organizational situation when this style will be Inappropriate/destructive?
The question of whether the transformational leadership is a boon or a bane still remains unanswered. Although, transformational leadership is defined as bringing a change by creating a vision or in simple words, transforming but even transformational leadership can fail because of umpteen reasons like lack of emotions, unidirectional, poor communication, unclear vision etc.
In an organization, transformational leadership may go wrong if the connection between the leader and the followers is poor or if the leader has a hidden agenda or if the followers follow their charismatic leader blindly. One of the organizational situations where the transformational leadership can be destructive or inappropriate and can lead to employee burnout is when the leaders start expecting too much from their followers to bring a change and due to this reason, even the presence of a transformational leader stresses out the employee. The constant push to go an extra mile by the leaders can often lead to demotivation and as a result, the productivity of the employees declines.
