Discuss what is involved in directing and managing project work as part of project integration management, including the importance of producing promised deliverables, implementing solutions to issues, evaluating work performance data, and requesting changes to a project
Answer-
Project management is very crucial for the success of the
project in a business enterprise. The project managers should,
therefore, use all the available techniques to boost the success of
the project they are undertaking. This entails engaging all the
stakeholders of the project effectively in order to get their
support for the project being undertaken. To ensure all the
stakeholders to a project are cooperative, the project manager
should engage all the stakeholders in the project being undertaken.
The stakeholders in a project include the project team members, the
management of the firm as well as the board of directors and
customers in the market who are to benefit from the project.
Engaging the stakeholders of a project entails the use of various
techniques by the project manager. Some of these techniques are
better than others as they are more efficient and effective in
engaging the stakeholders. This greatly promotes the success of the
project in the firm. One of the most efficient techniques of
engaging stakeholders in a project is through meetings. This
entails the project manager holding meetings with the various
stakeholders to a project. This enables the stakeholders to discuss
various issues facing the project to ensure its success in the
industry.
Advantages.
The pros of holding meetings to engage the stakeholders in a
project include; it enables the project manager to interact and
discuss various issues facing a project being undertaken, it also
enhances easy solving of challenges faced in a project through
meetings and finally, it enables the project managers to explain
the progress of the project being undertaken to the stakeholders of
the project.
Disadvantages.
The cons of using meetings to engage the various stakeholders
include; its time-consuming technique. This is because it entails
the project manager engaging the various managers in talks in
meetings which may take a lot of time. This may delay the
completion of the project as a lot of time is taken discussing the
progress of the project. The use of technology does not involve all
the stakeholders in a project. This is because only the selected
members attend the meetings.
Despite these cons, holding meetings is one of the effective
techniques of engaging various stakeholders in a project. As such,
I would use it to engage the various stakeholders in a project as a
project manager. This will greatly contribute to the success of the
project in the market. This will consequently lead to increased
performance of the firm in the industry as well as gaining some
competitive edge over their rivals in the industry.
