Erickson Was inspired sigmund Freud's works. Like sigmund Freud his theory was also based on epigenetic principle that is the division of personality development into stages and all the further stage development is based and depend on the previous stage. He divided the personality development process into 8 stages namely, (i). Trust versus mistrust- between birth and first year of life, as infants are dependent , trust formation is the vital part of personality development,(ii). Autonomy versus same and doubt- early childhood, they start doing their own works such has toiletries, encouragement helps build up confidence while shaming may affect the personality negativity (iii). Initiative versus guilt- preschool years, children exercise their control over the world around them, those who succeed more often grow confident and intiative while those who fail often are left with guilt and self doubt, (iv). Industry versus infirioinfe- early school years from 5 to 11 years, children learn and take pride in their accomplishments, those who are encouraged develop a feeling of competence while those who are discouraged grow inferiority complex, (v). Identify versus isolation- teenage years, at this stage they interact socially and more independently and grow a sense of self , those who are encouraged grow strong sense of self and Independence while those who are discouraged grow insecure and confused, (vi). Intimacy versus isolation- early adulthood, at this stage people form close intimate and committed relationships, those with good and successful experience grow Sense of security and belonging while those with bad experiences grow vulnerable to emotional isolation and loneliness, (vii). Generativity versus stagnation- later adulthood, at this stage people focus on building up famlies and career, those who are successful contibute to their society while others feel rather unproductive, (viii). Integrity versus despair- old age, at this stage people look back to their life and either are happy about it or regretfull.
