Since treating early manifestations of disease is far less expensive than the chronic conditions that result from long-term smoking, overweight, and obesity, how can the value of preventive self-care be raised so that employees will set priorities for their own health and see healthy lifestyles as an ethical obligation?

The leading question surrounding the change in how healthy and unhealthy lifestyles will be managed in the future is: How can employers promote employees’ personal responsibility?

Are health and fitness really the ethical responsibility of individuals themselves, rather than a problem that requires a social solution?

Health insurance has come to stand for health care, but is purchasing health care the same as purchasing health insurance? Does conflating the two confuse the issue about the responsibilities of employers and employees?

This is a discussion post. Please provide at least 200 words in your response. Thanks in advance

Expert Solution

Employees will set the priorities if the employer set the following things:-

-Neat dress appearance

-smoking not allowed in office premises and employee should not go outside of the campus very often to smoke or do something which is not a health practice.

-Good healthy habits

-If he has any disease conditions, they will consider it as unfit.

-Maintain annual health check-ups to know the employees health status.

Employers promote employees’ personal responsibility?

-Conduct health education programmes like precautions for child bearing mother, and effects of smoking etc.

-Put a gym equipment

-sports ground to play in the free time

-Provide health insurance

Yes being healthy and maintain fitness is really a responsibility of the individual; otherwise it will become a social problem which needs solution from the government body.

Having health insurance is good for everybody rather than loosing so much of for sudden incidents like accidents.

It is not only a employers responsibility for good health of the employees, it also an individual responsibility to main good health with proper food, good exercise, not having bad habits and for safe side having health insurance for your family members as you will insurance from your employer is a good practice to leada life peacefully.

We may not bother about the prosperity but the health. “Health is Wealth”
