lipooxygenase pathway
Lipooxygenase pathway...
Phospholipids present in cell membrane with the help of Phospholipase it is converted into Arachidonic acid..
Phospholipase is inhibited by Corticosteroids...
This Arachidonic acid is converted into 5-HPETE with the help of Lipooxygenase enzyme..
Lipooxygenase enzyme is inhibited by zileuton..
This 5-HPETE is converted into LTA4 with the help of Lipooxygenase..
HPETE means hydroperoxy eicosatetraenoic acid..
This LTA4 has two pathways
a. With the help of hydrolase enzyme it is converted to LTB4.
b. With the help of LTC4 synthase it is converted to LTC4..
This LTC4 is converted to LTD4 with the help of Transferase enzyme..
LTD4 is converted into LTE4 with the help of peptidase enzyme...
Function of these Leucotrines are
1. LTB4- helps in neutrophils chemotaxis..
2. LTC4, LTD4, LTE4- causes Bronchoconstriction.
