Research Scenario: You have been raising Bombina orientalis, or Oriental fire-bellied toads, and measured the frogs’ jumps in centimeters. Your latest study looks at males and females’ reactions to being raised in a room with another animal. You set up three terrariums, each with six male and six female frogs. Each terrarium is in a separate room. Let A1 = male frogs, A2 =female frogs, B1 = frogs raised in a room with a dog, B2 = frogs raised in a room with a cat, and B3 = frogs raised in a room with a parrot.

It is important that a survey is anonymous. It is important for several reasons. Yes, due to the sensitivity and to expand on this, we hope the participants would be honest and this is more likely if it is anonymous. However, the participants may still not be honest because of fear of getting in trouble.
There are valid reasons why the survey questions may need to be closed ended. How many questions would you include on the survey? Would you have any questions that determine if a person is being dishonest?

We all use shortcuts in making judgments about others. (I.e., assuming a woman in scrubs is a nurse, and a man in scrubs is a doctor.) As the world continues to get ‘flatter” and diversity increases do you think this will get better or worse? Why? How will you work to try to minimalize this in your own life? Include stories about a few times you have taken shortcuts to make judgments - either in your professional life or your personal life - and what the results were. Also share stories about times you were the one being judged and what the outcome of this was.
