"Is Child Malnourishment a result of Child Maltreatment" for this topic of research proposal, kindly provide the methodology which is appropriate to the research aims and demonstrates an understanding of all relevant aspects including sampling, data collection and data analysis methods in 1000 words answering these aspects :
Design
What is your design? Briefly outline how this will work. Explain why this design is most appropriate for your research question.
Sample
What is your sampling strategy? Briefly explain how this will work. Explain why this sample is most appropriate given your unit of analysis, target population, and design.
Data collection
What is your data collection approach? Briefly explain how this will work. For quantitative data, explain how you will measure each of your variables (IV, DV, any other variables) and the levels of measurement for each. Consider measurement validity and reliability. For qualitative data, explain how you will obtain sufficiently rich data about your phenomenon of interest. Explain why this data collection is most appropriate for the variables/phenomena identified in your research question.
Analysis
How will you use your data to answer your research question? If you have quantitative data, make sure you describe the statistical tests you will use and that these match the levels of measurement for your variables. If you have qualitative data, make sure that you use an inductive approach if you are using grounded theory, and use a deductive approach if your question is informed by theory.
I need assistance. Please help. Kindly explain all these aspects of methodology so that i get a better idea how these are interconncected. You may explain these using lesser words if it is sufficient.
Thanks In Advance.
1. According to me , the research design of this particular research problem would be Quasi - Experimental design , where it seeks to establish a cause - effect relationship between two or more than two variables. Here are two variables as well. They are Child maltreatment and malnourishment . It involves field experiment, where the researcher needs to do a survey on the required problem of child's malnourishment . It is not performed randomly.
2. In this case , the sampling strategy for the above problem would be Purposive Sampling . It is because here the researcher will have a specific purpose for studying the problem. In this respect , the purpose of the researcher is to find whether Child malnourishment results in child maltreatment . Here the homogeneity of population is maintained, as because the set of population needs to be from a specific class of people. This problem is not prevalent among the rich class families or middle class families. This can be only found among the poverty striken people and vulnerable section of society.
3. The data collection apporach should be of survey method . Survey methodology is a way of collecting data / information from the target group of population. Constructing of questions is also a part of Survey methodology . Questions in this case could be close ended . Quantitativey speaking , child malnourishment is the independent variable and the intake of food is the dependent variable.
4. The level of measurment which I would like to apply over here would be Mean . It helps to find out the central value of the data . Hence it will help me in finding out the average number of child who are suffering from lack of nourishment .
Validity is the form of checking the quality of the research problem , whether it is logically correct or not .
Reliability :The degree of measuring the accuracy of a research problem. First of all Reliability comes first , then comes the validity . If the research problem is correct then comes the validity of a problem .
Quanlitatively , the child malnourishment can be measured in terms of nominal measurement . It is a categorical type of measurement and the intake of food can be measured in terms of interval measurement . The difference /gap of the intake will be measured.
I will use the data in a qualitiative way rather than quantitative way. This problem deals with Inductive approach Inductive approach aims at establishing a new theory. Whereas the deductive theory aims at testing a theory. I would say to use a Deductive approach rather tha inductive one. It so because , in this problem the researcher needs to test the problem rather than arriving st something new.
