a. AIM AND OBJECTIVE
the study aimed to potray the impact of COVID 19 on the mental health status of frontlineir nurses in emergency departments.
BACKGROUND
The coronavirus disease is building pressure and challenges to the nurses fighting against pandemic on the fronline basis, they are under great physical and pychological distress.
DESIGN
crosssectional study
METHODS
Frontline nurses from various hos[itals were invited to participate in an online survey by convenience sampling, the survey included general health questionnaire,percieved social support scale, simplfied coping styel scale and multiple logistic analysis.
RESULTS
out of 200 frontine nurses 45 were identified under psychological distress. Multiple logistic analysis showed that workin in emergency department,being treated differently , negative coping style and covid related stress sypmtoms were positive related to psychological stress.Percieved social support and effective precautionary measure were negative in association with pychological stress.
CONCLUSION
The survey demonstrated that the covid 19 has significant negative psychological impact on frontline nurses. Self coping style and psychological growth played an important role in maintaining health or nurses.
RELEVANCE OF STUDY
The study highligjted that the frontline nurses were suffering from varying degree of distress which needed early screening and supportive intervention for the prevention of further psychological impact.
