A juice manufacturing brand “J” is planning to utilize sales promotion in order to increase its current sales and augment its customer base. As the marketing manager for this organization, write a short report on the sales promotion tools by utilizing any TWO (2) specific tools that can be used to achieve the objective. Justify your selection with relevant logic.
Any new product or a service in the market, needs marketing efforts to send the word out in the market. This is necessary to boost sales and raise consumer awareness. One of the elements in marketing is Sales Promotion. Sales promotion is a temporary activity which is aimed to increase the sales for a brief period of time; Or companies do promotion of their products or services to introduce a new offering to consumers or their distributors; Establishments like malls / supermarkets also do sales promotion sometimes to clear their inventories.
Some of the sales promotion tools which are commonly used are Coupons, Samples, Demonstrations (Demo), Exchanges, Cash rebates/ refund, Gifts, Contests / Games, and many more.
For brand 'J', we will select two sales promotion tools which can be correlated to each other for achieving better sales promotion strategy.
The first strategy will be to offer cash rebates to consumers who buy the product. This will ensure that consumers do have a thought in their minds about our brand 'J' while buying a juice. Cash rebate offer will also insure that consumers who might not want to try a just launched product, they will at least have a thought in their minds to consider our brand while buying any other juice at a mall or supermarket, or at a retail shop.The consumers can get the rebate after showing relevant and valid proof of purchase within the promotion period.
The second strategy will be to have a contest for a short period of time. This will be to utilize the power of social media, the contest will be that consumers have to click a photograph while drinking juice/s of brand 'J', caption it and tag it to brand 'J''s social media accounts. The winner can then be given a certain gift or a reward. The reach of social media and consumers trying juices, even if for the sake of competition, will create word-of-mouth on social media. A positive word-of-mouth from a known person like family member, friend or a colleague always goes a long way and beats biggest of marketing strategies.
These are the two tools - Cash rebates and Competition which can be used to boost the sales of brand 'J' juices.
