Describe the four main components of the scientific method (not process) and explain why they are vitally important.
The scientific method is a standardized way for a psychologist to test the hypothesis, build on theories, make inferences and come to conclusions, gain information, do research, and do analysis about the psyche of the person.
Four main components of the scientific method are:
- Draft an observation defining or describing the problem - In this on the basis of researcha and data collected from different sources, the information is assembled at one place and studied thoroughly. Basis the researcher's observation, he formulates a question which is asking the problem and defining the problem.
- Design a hypothesis - Next, once the problem is described by the researcher he moves on to cnstructing a hypothesis which is a tentative statement based on the data collected or information generated, a hypothseis is designed to answer the question.
- Measure / Test the Hypothesis - Then , the researcher measures the hypothesis formulated by making ceratin predictions and test the hypothesis by doing experiments. The experiment is done to test the hypothesis.
- Draw conclusions and revamp the hypothesis - After the results from the experiment, the data will be analysed through the use of quantitative and qualitative methods of data asessment. Post which, the results are taken down and report is generated. The report will draw conclusion whether the hypothesis formed was correct or incorrect, if correct then the result is taken out and taken into consideration, if hypothesis is proved wrong then in that case another hypothesis is formed to answer the problem and tested further.
