Identify and briefly describe the five key components of the “scientific method”

Solutions

Expert Solution

The five key components of scientific method are

  • Observation.
  • Questions.
  • Hypothesis.
  • Prediction
  • Experiment (Testing)
  1. Making an observation the scientific method starts with making an observation. An observation can be anything small(like heating of iron) or big(star, galaxies).
  2. Asking questions next step is to ask questions regarding your observation. why it's happening, since when and how etc.(like why iron heats when we press the switch)
  3. Forming a hypothesis an idea of actually answering the questions related to observation (iron heats after switching on maybe electric current is heating it)
  4. Making a prediction based on the hypothesis a prediction is presented. (If electric current is heating the it will only work when current is flowing through it.)
  5. Experimentation now to test the hypothesis and for proving the prediction right series of experiment are needed for the observation. (In case of our testing it with other outlets and other sources)
