  1. Rational persuation: This is to convince using with logic and reason.
  2. Legitimising: Basing requests on formal rules and on ones authority or superiors authority.
  3. Personal appeals: when making a request, the request is based upon personal things such as friendship.
  4. Exchange: Making a deal or convincing through exchange of something.
  5. Ingratiation: Before making a request, becoming more likeable to the person.
  6. Pressure: Putting pressure on the person by imposing deadlines or threats, intimidation etc.
  7. Coalition: Making other people a part of your group or opinion to garner support.
  8. Inspirational appeals: Using emotions, encouragement and feelings to to build enthusiasm in others.
  9. Consultation: Involving others in the planning and decision making process.
